Our Future Home

4 days in Texas
17 homes that we looked at
1 baby to tow around
4 spreadsheets (that's how Aaron likes to make big decisions)
many prayers

and it looks like.....

We have a winner.

A Conversation at Lunch

This is what I overheard from the other room during lunch today.

Lizzy:  What if there was a birthday party at school and everyone got invited, but I didn't.  How would that make you feel?  Would you like that?

Andrew:  No.  I'd  be mad for you.

Lizzy:  Andrew, you are so independent.

Andrew:  What's independent?

Lizzy:  It's when you feel things that other people feel.

Andrew:  Yeah, I'm independent and so are you Lizzy.

Lizzy:  Thanks.

Boys!!

Andrew's favorite dinosaur is Ankylosaurus.  Ankylosaurus's move around on all fours.  Which explains this little problem Andrew has with all of his jeans.  If I could find some way to get Andrew interested in the dinosaurs that walk upright... I could probably save our family a lot of money.

Chubby Cheeks

Does this not look like someone who just seriously overate at Thanksgiving?

Despite those chubby cheeks, I promise that Sam does more than just eat.  See here....

My New Favorites

Favorite quote:

"If you are helpless, He is not.  If you are lost, He is not.  If you don't know what to do next, He knows.  It would take a miracle, you say?  Well, if it takes a miracle, why not?"

Boyd K. Packer

Favorite new blog:

Favorite thing to cook:

(Really breads of all sorts... and whole wheat especially.  And yes... these are whole wheat cinnamon rolls and yes... I felt good serving them to my family.)

2 favorite way to spend my free time:

http://www.har.com/  (we are leaving in 2 weeks to go house hunting - and hopefully buying)  :)

And I have becoming mildly obsessed with organizing lately and getting rid of STUFF.  I have taken 5 trips to D.I. and thrown out about 5 garbage bags worth of stuff so far.

So what are your favorites today?

Tooth Fairy

Let me tell you about the tooth fairy.  I was certain that she only collected teeth.  But now... it seems that she will take a very nice note as well.  When Lizzy misplaced the tooth that she was saving to put under her pillow... she was heartbroken.  She wrote a note explaining her problem.  She also decided that a small gift was in order.  She thought that maybe the tooth fairy could use something small to grab the teeth out from under the pillow.  That is why I no longer have my tweezers.  But it was all for a good cause because Lizzy did indeed get a visit from the tooth fairy.  And that's what matters most...

4 year old

I love this my boy so so much.
Today he came into the kitchen crying.  When I asked him why... he said that he was sad because he thought he heard me crying.  I hadn't been crying and I tried to reassure him, but he continued to cry... telling me that it makes him so sad to hear me cry.
It is little moments like this that just make me want to wrap him up and hold him so tight.... and not let him grow up.

But then...

The growing up part is fun too.  I was thinking of a few things that Andrew has experienced this past year.

*  Andrew has discovered a passion for dinosaurs and has an incredible memory.  He remembers the name for some prehistoric frog that I still can't even say.

*  Andrew started preschool this year. He knows his alphabet and is just starting to sound out simple words.

*  Andrew started "big kid" primary this year and loves to say the prayers and give talks.

*  Andrew has decided that he loves *ALL*  sports.

*   Andrew wants to be a Dad when he grows up.  I think that is awesome.  He also wants to be a doctor.  This is the part that cracks me up.  When I asked him why he wants to be a doctor he said, "Because I like to rest a lot".  Aaron has been working a lot of night shifts lately... and then he comes home and sleeps all day.  I guess all that Andrew sees is a Dad that just gets to rest a lot.

*  Andrew has learned the joy of a good joke.  Once he finds one that he likes... he'll tell it over and over and over and over...... and over.

Enough of this... I just love my boy.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANDREW!!

p.s. I made Andrew's birthday cake myself and was pretty happy with it.  Especially since cake decorating has not proved to be a talent of mine in the past.
